A 60% cost-share (landowner pays 40%) is given when purchasing pesticides for the control of State Designated and County Declared weeds and pests.
A 50% cost-share is given for the purchase of rodenticides for controlling Prairie dogs and pocket gophers.
An 80% cost-share (landowner pays 20%) is given for purchasing herbicides for the control of "special management species". Currently leafy spurge and spotted knapweed are the two species under that program.
Crook County Weed and Pest offers a reimbursement cost-share for Leafy Spurge grazing through the Special Management Program for people who choose to herd goats for control of Leafy Spurge.
This program has several rules and regulations. The district has asked for individuals to reach out to the district office for more information.
A landowner chooses to hire a commercial applicator for treatment of leafy spurge or spotted knapweed, the District may offer 80% reimbursement for the cost of application.
The commercial applicator must be paid first (with proof of payment) to be eligible to receive reimbursement.
Only costs associated with treating leafy spurge or spotted knapweed are eligible, and details maps and records are required.
