Common Names

Canadian horseweed, Colt's tail, Butterweed, Fireweed, Hogweed

Description

Height: 1- 6 feet 

Flower Color: White to pale pink

Leaves: Narrow, lance-shaped to linear, 2-4 inches long 

Habitat: Moist, shady, or riparian areas (streambanks, lakeshores, wetlands, forests)

Growing Season: Seeds germinate in late summer/fall, overwinter from mid March to early April, and flower in July or August

Best Time to Treat: Fall (late August through October)

Other Facts

  • Highly adaptable 
  • Native winter or summer annual 
  •  Toxic to horses and livestock (causes neurological issues, weakness, and tremors)
